First Steps: Carrying Out Your First Calculation
This guide walk you through the standard workflow in Design Atlas 2026, from activating your license to generating a professional calculation report.
1. License Activation
Before you start, ensure your software is licensed. Licenses are typically provided as a *.LIC file via email.
- Open the Help menu and select Activate License.
- Browse to and select your valid license file (e.g.,
Version12.lic). - Confirm with OK. The software is now unlocked for your purchased modules. Note: Administrator rights are not required for this step.
2. Selecting a Calculation Module
Upon starting the program, the Module Selection window appears.
- Find your module: Use the Text Search to find specific standards (e.g., "B1" for shells) or use the Quick Start symbols to navigate by category.
- Launch: Double-click the desired module or click the green Start button.
3. Project & Material Setup (Strength Calculation)
When starting a strength calculation, the Project Module launches automatically.
- Set Regulations: Specify the calculation standard (e.g., AD 2000) and the material definition standard (e.g., DIN EN 13445-3).
- Select Materials: Use LV Material Server (located in theright panel).
- Search for your material and double-click to transfer it into your active calculation module.
4. Data Input & Calculation
The input mask uses a unified interface where almost every field can be an input.
- Enter Values: Type your design data into the fields. Values you enter are displayed in black.
- Automatic Calculation: As soon as you leave an input field, the software calculates dependent values, which are displayed in blue.
- Handle Statements: Ensure every relevant variable has a "statement." If a component (like a nozzle) is not present, enter "0".
5. Reviewing Results & Messages
While working, keep an eye on the InfoBrowser and Message List: * Messages: Check for hints or critical warnings regarding your design.
6. Saving & Printing
Once your calculation is complete:
- Save: Go to File > Save to store your project as an
.ATLfile. - Print: Navigate to File > Print to open the report menu.
- Configure Report: * Select the modules/chapters to be included.
- Click OK or Print to generate the final documentation.
💡 Quick Navigation Tip
Use the Quick Navigation Bar on the side of the input mask to jump directly between different modules of your calculation.
